Good Morning, Golden! Today marks the symbolic end of summer and the outdated fashion guideline to stop wearing white…but this goose has white feathers (a result of there only being one goose emoji) so fashion critics be damned!

🌕 The Eagle Has Landed

Golden’s Eagle has landed in southern Colorado…Eagle being the name of Lunar Outpost’s solar-powered lunar terrain vehicle, or LTV. This Golden based company is one of three teams competing for a service contract with NASA. The winner could be announced by the end of the year.

“The goal of Lunar Outpost is to help create a sustainable human presence in space,” said Michael Moreno, the company’s vice president of strategy. “…If we want to build a habitation, you can’t put it right next to a rocket landing site. You need miles. I mean, think about Kennedy Space Center. You’re not sitting right next to the launch pad. Mobility is the key to unlocking a sustainable human presence in space, which is why we focused on that.”

🧑‍🌾 $3700 Raised for Food Pantry

The Golden Community Garden turned music and blooms into a big boost for Golden Pantry & Thrift on Aug. 21, raising more than $3,700 at its annual fundraiser (goal was $2,000).

The evening featured bluegrass “band scrambles” under the tents, craft beer, and neighbors gathered among the flowers—all in support of keeping the pantry shelves stocked during a time of record demand. Pantry Manager Erin Miller shared that visits are up 48% this year, with food distribution rising by 50%.

Transportation Demand Management Plan - Initial Survey - “The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program will offer ideas and solutions to help reduce the number of car trips and encourage people to use other ways of getting around, including walking, biking, carpooling, and public transit.”

I Voted Sticker Design Contest - Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to submit their original sticker designs from August 18 through November 30, 2025. There will be winners in each of three categories: Future Voter (under 13 years old), Youth (ages 13-19 ), and Adult (ages 19+).
