Good morning, Golden! Did you know a “calendrical Blue Moon” happens roughly once every 2.5 to 3 years, when a single calendar month hosts two full moons? It’s happening this month: May 1 was the Flower Moon, and this Sunday, May 31, is the Blue Moon. The more you know… 🌈🌟

And speaking of rare celestial events, next month’s calendar is absolutely glowing with good stuff. We’ve got music, markets, classes, community happenings, and yes—a Book Fair for Adults, which I originally titled an “Adult Book Fair” before realizing that sounded like a very different event. Though, to be fair, it is “The Spicening.” Please enjoy my personal growth in real time.

🎵 Summer Concert Series Sneak Peak

Intel acquired 🕵️ …though through absolutely no sleuthing of my own. One of our flock members read last week’s newsletter and kindly reached out with The Golden Hotel’s Summer Music Series schedule. Thanks, Heather!

Tiny caveat: they’re still finalizing a few details, but wanted to give Golden Goose readers an early peek at the summer music lineup. 👀

🎨 Artsweek Golden

Plan ahead! Arts Week Golden is June 20-21 in Parfet Park (9am-5pm), and there will be 70 artist booths.

Additionally, the Golden Makers are sponsoring several FREE art classes the week leading up to Artsweek (June 15-19) at Foothills Art Center. Sign up for one of their free classes before they fill up!

(Not all of the classes below are part of Golden Makers so be sure to check the description.)

📚 Adult Book Fair Part Deux

Dear readers, you may recall that I was quite tickled to learn about April’s Adult Book Fair (see prior post here). My inner scholastic-book-fair-loving ’90s child felt deeply seen. But now New Terrain has stepped things up another notch and, well… color me hot under the dust jacket. ☺️

Book Fair for Adults 2: THE SPICENING 🔥

📆 Mark your calendars: Sunday, June 14th @ 11am - 4pm (Free entry)

“It’s back… and things are getting a little hotter.

After the success of our first Book Fair for Adults, we’re turning it up a notch (or three) by spreading things out and taking the entire experience outside for a day of sunshine, stories, and just the right amount of spice. Wander into a space that feels nostalgic in all the best ways - rows of books to explore, makers to meet, new ink calling your name, and that familiar thrill of discovering something you didn’t know you needed; only this time, the pages are a little steamier and the drinks hit a little different.”

🎭 Miners Alley Cuts Prices

“The Miners Alley Performing Arts Center cut ticket prices by about 25% for their summer shows in response to higher costs of living” - The Colorado Sun

Miners Alley Performing Arts Center is lowering ticket prices for its summer shows in an effort to keep live theater accessible while everyday costs continue to climb. Current tickets for Pump Boys and Dinettes now range from $30–$45, with $15 rush tickets available for many unsold performances, and early response from patrons has been encouraging—donations increased after the theater announced the price cuts.

The article also highlights Miners Alley’s growth from a small upstairs theater into its new 14,000-square-foot home in the former Meyer Hardware building, complete with a lobby bar and plans for a black box theater, artist housing, and education space.

“Part of it is to make as many people as possible feel happy for a few hours, or at least moved in a positive way,” DeCaro said. “You should walk out feeling uplifted, inspired, not overwhelmed with everything going on.”
