Good morning, Golden! I hope you all had a lovely Fourth of July weekend.
I made a last-minute decision Sunday night to buy resale tickets to Andrea Gibson: Love Letter from the Afterlife at Red Rocks, a screening of Gibson’s final performance accompanied live by the Colorado Symphony. Annnnd I’m writing this intro afterward, at 11:30 p.m., with no real words and a lot of feelings.
I laughed and cried hard enough to be grateful I’d packed a tissue. This month marks one year since Colorado’s late Poet Laureate passed away, and the whole night felt like a reminder of how much art can hold…grief, joy, tenderness, humor, love, and hope. I hope you’re able to find a little art this week too, and let it move you.
In Andrea’s words, “We have to create. It is the only thing louder than destruction.” ❤️
P.S. Be sure to check out all the upcoming events and festivals so you can mark your calendars now!

🚲 Bike Construction Curious
If you’ve been seeing a lot of road construction through town and were also curious about it, check out Golden’s Central Golden Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Projects page.
The site describes the Jackson Street Proposed Design Elements, the Ford Street Proposed Design Elements, and links the construction schedule (also shown below).
Most notable points:
Protected bike lanes are proposed on both Ford and Jackson from 14th to 24th, with physical buffers using alternating flex posts and concrete dividers.
Jackson Street will lose one travel lane between 15th and 19th, creating space for a larger bike-lane buffer
The Ford/14th intersection will be reconfigured for safety, including removing the southbound left-turn lane, prohibiting straight-through movement from 14th, and adding a pedestrian refuge island.
The project also includes pedestrian upgrades, including ADA-compliant ramps, new sidewalk segments on Ford, a raised intersection at Jackson/24th, and some green infrastructure along Jackson because part of the area is in the floodplain.
